“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
Isaiah 40:31
Life has a way of wearing people down. Pressure builds, uncertainty lingers, and seasons of waiting can leave you feeling tired physically, mentally, and spiritually. In those moments, many people try to push harder, force outcomes, or rely solely on themselves.
But Isaiah 40:31 offers a different perspective: real strength isn’t found in striving harder; it’s found in placing your hope in God.
Running on Empty
A lot of people live exhausted because they’re carrying weight they were never meant to carry. They chase success, approval, security, and control, believing they always have to keep producing and performing.
In life, that pressure eventually catches up. Even strong people get tired.
Basketball can look the same way. Players start forcing the game, pressing too hard, or trying to create everything on their own. The harder they grip control, the more drained they become.
Strength fades when we rely solely on ourselves.
Renewed, Not Replaced
Isaiah doesn’t say those who hope in God will never become tired; it says He will renew their strength.
That part is most important.
God doesn’t promise a life without challenges. He promises His presence in them. He meets us in our weakness and provides strength that surpasses anything we could ever think, ask or imagine.
In basketball, every player goes through stretches where shots stop falling and energy feels low. But great players don’t panic; they stay grounded and trust the process.
Faith works similarly. Trusting God doesn’t remove every difficult season in your life, but it changes how you walk through it.
Hope That Keeps You Moving
“They will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
Sometimes life feels like soaring. Other times it feels more like a grind.
Not every season is about speed or highlight reels. Sometimes faith is choosing to trust God one day at a time, believing that even when you feel weak, He is still sustaining you.
On the court and in life, don’t confuse exhaustion with defeat. When your own strength runs out, God’s doesn’t.
Keep showing up. Keep trusting. Keep hoping.
Because those who hope in the Lord never walk alone.
